Sam Raimi's Spider-man 3: Edited Version (summary)

Note: This is a Fourteen Fortified Version of Spider-man 3. This uses the same concepts of Spider-man 3 but is slightly altered.

Summary:
On television, it was a re-run of Spiderman fighting crime and the conclusion of Spiderman saving the day again. Spiderman's heroicness of the day were sullied and down played by a news anchor man (someone like Bill O'Reilly) . It was in the Osborne Mansion, Harry was alone in the mansion, looking at his father's picture with him, Norman Osborne, and next to his hand was a tube of globulin green formula.

Harry then put the tube of globulin green back to the shelf next to the rest of them. As he climbed down the shelf, the tube tips over and leaked. The globulin green leaked and it dropped into Harry's glass filled with wine. Harry took the glass of wine and closed the goblin hideout. Then he turned back to the television, it was showing Jameson's son, the astronaut. He was in a press conference. He was a representative of NASA, that his space exploration had found proof of organic life, the symbiote.

At Oscorp, Flint Marko, a lowly paid engineer (different from the film where he started off as a criminal), was there to fix an accelerator. He was working extra hours to pay off his daughter's hospital bills. Marko accidently triggered the accelerator, all scientists were alarmed. The emergency abort switch he was suppose to turn off was not fixed. He was locked inside the accelerator. Soon, the entire room was nothing but sand.

At Queens University, Dr. Curt Connors was appointed to lead a team of scientists to examine the symbiote. Peter was in the backroom taking pictures of the symbiote. Eddie was there taking notes while interviewing Connors. Peter believed that J.J. Jameson actually hired a rival reporter, Eddie Brock, because he was still mad about Peter Parker for stealing his son's girl, Mary Jane. Peter's life was forced from one extreme to the next. But he was able to control it. However, Eddie was actually hired for writing and just part time photographing.

Connors stated that the symbiote is an organic substance, it is not necessarily alive. Connor told the two that the substance reacts to high sonic frequencies. He demonstrated it by holding a tuning fork, hits it, and holds it near the substance, the substance start to quiver as if the sonic frequencies had weakened it. Dr. Connors is a biologist and a part time physicist. Before the two left, Connor held Peter back, the two were chatting in the hall. Dr. Connors gave him a lecture about responsibility.

The symbiote is shedding in the background. After several attempts, the symbiote was able to open the container and slipped onto the ground and crawled away. Peter left the hall and the symbiote followed him. Dr Connors returned to look at the symbiote shell that was left inside the container, he held the tuning fork to it, there were no reactions, Connor was confused. The symbiote escaped through the air vent. It attaches itself to Peter's bike.

Harry was called to Oscorp to see some new discovery. He went there to inspect some newly made equipment, an upgrade of some military prototype weaponry, a glider and a flight suit. Besides that, he was shown a glass room. It was filled with sand, but it morphed into Flint Marko. The scientists told that Marko has been transformed into a man with sand like characteristics and many extraordinary capabilities. Harry told the other executives to leave. Harry struck a deal with Flint Marko to be a hitman to hunt down, capture Spiderman and he will pay his daughter's hospital bills. Originally Harry told Marko to kill Spiderman, but Marko refused to kill, claim that he can't face his family being a murderer. So he was asked to catch him alive.

Spiderman was on patrol again, saved the day again by foiling a robbery, he noticed Brock following him. He swung to an empty neighbourhood and entered a house with an open window. Brock thinks Spiderman lives there, copies down the address and runs away excitedly. Spiderman saw Brock leave. Spiderman got out of the house, knowing he had fooled Brock.

The next day, at Daily Bugle, Eddie Brock turned in a report vandalism of Norman Osborne's grave, the body of Norman Osborne was missing. Eddie in the mean time told he thinks he knows who is the real Spiderman. He brought Jameson to the house, only to reveal a sick old man hooked to a machine living alone. Eddie and Jameson were embarrassed.
In the mean time, Peter tried to visit the grave, it was filled with police officers and he met Harry giving out a statement. Harry said he was really drunk the other night and saw someone rising out of the grave, the person saying he will kill Spiderman. Harry left Peter alone with Peter wondering if Norman Osborne is alive or Harry was too drunk last night. Harry saw Peter but completely ignored him.

That night, Spiderman was patrolling the raining skies and encountered a jewel exhibit robbery. It turned out to be a trap made by Sandman to lure Spiderman. The two fought, Sandman had the upper hand and exhibited such extraordinary abilities that surprised Spiderman.

The two fought and the tides turned when Spiderman kicked him outside of the exhibit. The light rain weakened Sandman and he escaped using the subway tunnels. Spiderman pursuit on but the Sandman disappeared completely.

At the same night, back in Oscorp, the glider and other arsenals were reported stolen. It was reported to Harry Osborne that the person who stole all those gadgets were possibly the same person several years ago.

In the Daily Bugle, Jameson is writing ridiculous headlines about Spiderman aiding Sandman in robbery. Brock was actually present in the exhibit because the exhibit was something grand and notable. Jameson chose Brock's photo over Peter's, claiming it’s nothing personal, Peter's camera had too much sand blurring his photos.

Peter left and Brock was told to remain behind. Jameson yelled at Eddie, he sent a detective to investigate. The Spiderman suspect was only the old man was a hermit, with no relatives or children. Spiderman is impossibly related to him.

That night, Peter's curiosity with Sandman made him stay up all night waiting for news about Sandman, to capture him. In that time, he fell asleep and was having a nightmare. In that nightmare, he dreamt that Connor, Brock, Harry and Jameson are all giving him a hard time. The symbiote sensed his fear, frustration and anger. The symbiote bonded with the sleeping Peter.

Overtime Peter realized he was wearing the symbiote. After he asked more about the symbiote with Dr. Connors, he learned that the symbiote feeds off heat. It prefers heat source of living creatures over non-living creatures. Dr. Connors  gave a hypothesis that sound ridiculous, the creature feeds on emotions earlier, but it seems to have died due to the unresponsive shell. In addition, the symbiote only made him easily ticked off and never emo. (Because emo=/=evil, emo = weird looking.) Also, the suit was able to morph into regular clothing and has a lot of different capabilities such as creating a giant octopus like tentacle and webs that comes out not only from his wrists but other places of his body like his shoulder, back and chest.

In the meantime, Brock was wondering in the streets and was encountered by Sandman who recognized him in the papers for taking photos in the jewel exhibit. Sandman interrogated him, forcing him to tell him where to find Spiderman. Brock told him that Peter Parker was the main photographer who knows where to find Spiderman. Brock was flung aside and set free.

The next day, Peter was in the restaurant with Aunt May saying he was planning to propose to Mary Jane. Peter showed many signs of frustrations towards the waiter giving wrong foods and clumsiness. Peter finally flipped out and dragged Aunt May out of the restaurant, Aunt May noticed the changes and tried to reason with him. Then they were encountered by Sandman. Sandman kidnapped Aunt May and forced them to meet up. Sandman left several blocks away, then Sandman turned to an alley. He left Aunt May there and claimed he didn't mean any harm. Sandman then left.

While Sandman was moving, suddenly, Spiderman appeared out of nowhere and started attacking him furiously. Spiderman in the black suit proved way more powerful than the old Spiderman. Spiderman overpowered Sandman, forcing him to tell where Aunt May was. Sandman told him he never brought her along, he just wanted to frighten Parker and said he left her behind. When the two were held at a stalemate, Hobgoblin appeared. The new player claimed Spiderman will pay for trying to kill him.

Hobgoblin used sonic waves emitted from his glider which weakened Spiderman, but so was Sandman. Sandman destroyed that part of the glider. The three fought, but Spiderman escaped with the two trying to fight over him. The Hobgoblin later realized Spiderman fled, he also left. Brock followed Spiderman's trail, Spiderman notices Brock and he smashed Brock's camera.

Back at the Bugle, Brock proposed to Jameson to find the identity of Spiderman by analyzing the webbing that he got from Spiderman. He claimed that analyzing the webbing formula will allow them to know which company creates webbing fluid like this. Jameson liked the idea and agreed to fund them.

In the Osborne Mansion, Sandman went and confronted Harry, Harry told Sandman was incompetent and fired him as his hitman. Sandman asked if he knows anything about the Hobgoblin, Harry denies it all. Sandman returned to the lab to be examined by biochemists.

That night, Peter went to watch Mary Jane's play. The two chat afterwards, but Peter turned aggressive towards one of Mary Jane's co-worker after he had insulted Mary Jane. Mary Jane noted Peter's change of attitude scaring her. There was then a fire, so Peter went to save the people inside. Brock went into the building to save people too, he was proved helpful, until Spiderman showed up. Spiderman thought he was trying to find his secret identity and tangled him up with his webbing. Spiderman threw Brock outside. In the process, it smashed Brock's camera again

Then, Hobgoblin encountered Peter in the building. The two fought and they were evenly matched, Hobgoblin turned more vicious than Green Goblin, he actually held the play hostages inside, including Mary Jane. Spiderman saved all the hostages and narrowly escaped after an aerial fight.

In the next scene, the Hobgoblin and Harry are in the dark room together. The frame was shot that the audience could see the Hobgoblin standing in the Goblin hideout room and Harry sitting in his chair.

Hobgoblin realized he and Spiderman were evenly matched. He required help. Harry suggested him to find Sandman, and find a way to make him help Hobgoblin. Harry suggested him to look up Flint Marko in his Oscorp files.

That night, Sandman was finally freed from Oscorp investigating him, he went to visit his daughter in the hospital. But only to see Hobgoblin in her room. Sandman demanded him to leave her alone. Hobgoblin told him if he helps him kill Spiderman, he will let her daughter live.

The next day, Aunt May and Mary Jane went to a coffee bar and discussed about Peter's behaviour, the two decides that they should have intervention with him. Suddenly, Hobgoblin appeared and kidnapped Aunt May and Mary Jane as well, to lure Spiderman out.

Brock was able to narrow down into three people, small companies that makes party strings with density like the webbing. Jameson actually used a lot of money to fund it. The three were in a television interview among with Jameson's reporters on some sort of news disguised as a talk show, it was broadcasted national wide. The three people does not know what it was about but thought it was about making party strings. It was to show the identity of Spiderman. Then, breaking news, Spiderman was fighting against Sandman and Hobgoblin in a building construction site. The Daily Bugle suffered a national wide humiliation.

Hobgoblin made Spiderman to choose between his love life or a saint like mother or the construction site workers. Spiderman was able to save all of them and Hobgoblin wanted to use this moment to kill him while he was distracted. The three fights, some of the workers were able to intervene Hobgoblin. Sandman realized his previous actions were as bad as Hobgoblin's and felt guilty. He helped Spiderman to save the hostages. However, he still fought Spiderman as he told Hobgoblin no bystanders will get hurt.

Spiderman had a spectacular battle with Hobgoblin and Sandman in a constructed building with construction workers as hostages. Sandman in the end realized Hobgoblin had gone too far and switched sides. Sandman had a change of heart after realizing that the building was rigged with charges and set to blow. Spiderman was able to save those people, locked in a stalemate. Hobgoblin wanted to use this chance to kill Spiderman. Sandman intervened, the two fought.

Finally, Sandman was able to overpower Hobgoblin by surprise. Hobgoblin dodged Sandman's smash, which leaked a water pipe. The water corroded Sandman's hand. Hobgoblin threw an explosive at the water pipe and jumped aside. The water pipe exploded, the water melted Sandman and he disappeared down the drain.

Spiderman saved Aunt May and Mary Jane after the building exploded. But similar to the first movie, Hobgoblin flew by and grabbed Mary Jane. The two went inside the church. Spiderman followed behind him. Spiderman was able to take down Hobgoblin in the end with the help of the symbiote. However, in the process, the symbiote's power was hard to control in a secluded area. A tentacle formed by the symbiote that was supposed to flung at the Hobgoblin missed and smashed the ceiling. The debris from the ceiling landed on Mary Jane, knocking her out.

The symbiote drove him nearly to kill Hobgoblin even after unmasking him, revealing to be Harry but Harry denied and claimed to be Norman Osborne. Peter realized that Harry dug up his father's body as a fear tactic. Spidey gave him a head bash, knocking him out, about to throw Harry over the church tower to kill him. But he kept on reasoning with himself, stating he can kill him, but he shouldn't because "with great power comes with great responsibility." He realized he had changed.

The symbiote forms a tentacle and pushed Harry off the tower. Spidey realized what he did and catched Harry with his webbing just in time. Spiderman realized he had almost killed his best friend, reminiscing what he could've done.

He decided to take off the symbiote but couldn't. He realized the symbiote knows he wants to remove it and it tightens. The symbiote shot out tentacles around the walls and trapped him like a cocoon.

By midnight, the bell struck, and the sonic vibration from that bell weakened the symbiote. Spiderman was able to take off the symbiote. The symbiote ripped off a bit of his Spidey costume but most of the Spidey costume is still intact.

The symbiote slithered off, away from the church bell, as far as possible. Spiderman took Harry back to Osborne Mansion. Then, Spiderman took an unconcious Mary Jane to a hospital. Harry's butler saw Harry spazing in bed and called for an ambulance.

By the end of the movie, Jameson fired Brock for all his mistakes. Harry was in the hospital, stabilized however doctors says he will have amnesia due to severe blows to the head and slight chemical poisoning. Peter was holding a ring, sitting next to an unconscious Mary Jane. Doctors said she's medically healthy but she was in a coma. She was in the same room as Aunt May who had suffered a heart attack after Spiderman rescued her.

After credits, Brock went to the same abandoned church, he was praying loudly, about to suicide, as the symbiote sneaks up behind him.

Personal View on Sam Raimi's Spider-man 3:
It wasn't as good as I had expected. I was hoping it to be at least the same caliber as Spiderman 1 and 2. I was a huge fan of those two previous films. I believe it's actually the studio's fault for forcing Sam Raimi to add in Venom. You can't force an artist to add in something he didn't feel like. That was the main reason why Venom was underused. I like Topher Grace as Venom, however, if I could choose, I'll choose Nathan Fillion as Venom. If you want to develop a villain, develop them. If not, just scrap it out and give more character development for other characters.
